It’s 2026. I became a grandmother in late 2024. She showed up early, and gave us a fright. I am eternally grateful that she came through it like a champ. She is almost 18 months and running all over Japan with Liz and Alex. Bless them for the daily pictures and videos that were the joy of my mother’s days. Unfortunately we lost Mom 12 days ago. She’d been on hospice care for over a year and only the last week or so had been rough. She was 94 and ready to go, so it’s hard to begrudge her the final rest…but. There’s a hole in our day, where what we do for her is missing. Life has changed. It’ll be awhile before I stop thinking in terms of what she would think of something that happened.
The world knows that she was the second to last surviving Munchkin, and she danced in Our Gang. I enjoyed the tangential connection to Hollywood, drama kid that I once was. I used to tell her that she cheated me out of a tell-all because she was a great Mom.
Anyway, miss you Mom. I hope you’re dancing with Daddy somewhere. Happy 77th yesterday.
Onward to life. Onward in Grammy-dom.
